Summer Works in Progress Series: Melissa Caldwell, Curator

Free and open to the public

Summer Works in Progress Series
Featuring Melissa Caldwell
Curator, Philadelphia Art Alliance at UArts

Have you ever wondered who is behind our exhibitions? What the curatorial process entails? Now is your opportunity to hear all the behind-the-scenes details!

We are kicking off our Summer Works in Progress Series with our very own Melissa Caldwell, Curator at the Philadelphia Art Alliance at the University of the Arts.

Melissa Caldwell is the Curator at the Philadelphia Art Alliance at the University of the Arts, where she is responsible for implementing and directing a rotating visual arts exhibition schedule in the six main exhibition galleries in the historic Wetherill Mansion. Between 1999 and 2017, Caldwell has curated over 50 major group and solo exhibitions. For the Works in Progress series, she will discuss her curatorial vision through examples of major past exhibitions that she has organized at the PAA, including Miss Rockaway Armada: Let Me Tell You About a Dream I Had (whose members are pictured above alongside Melissa; image curtesy of City Paper, 2011).
